with Kay Vandervort

only 3 seats left

Wednesday, August 12, 2020
1:00 PM - 3:00 pm

Tuition: $20 Materials: $20

In this class you will create your own 18 to 24-inch natural Amber necklace. Amber is fossilized tree resin which possesses the look of hardened honey. It has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty and valued as a gemstone since Neolithic times. Amber is said to have healing powers when worn in a bracelet or necklace and is sometimes used in medicinal creams.

As a student, you will learn basic beading techniques as you select from a variety of amber beads, cultured pearls, stone beads and glass beads to create a beautiful, natural looking necklace that will compliment almost any outfit. In addition to learning basic beading techniques, students will learn about what cords and findings work best for various jewelry projects.

Kay will be wearing a mask while teaching and all participants will be asked to do so also. Additional COVID safety precautions will be in place including hand-washing and appropriate social distancing.

About the instructor: Kay Vandervort retired to Ely in 2014 and has become very involved in the community.
