Saturday, August 14, 2021
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Are you ready for this ricing season? If you're thinking about going out to harvest wild rice this year, don't miss this class!
This evening is designed for people who want to begin harvesting wild rice. We will learn about Ojibwe harvesting traditions, tools, and techniques. Students will be taught how to recognize when rice is ready for harvest and how to harvest in a sustainable manner without damaging plants. We will also go over current laws and regulations surrounding the wild rice harvest.
While this class is intended for first-time rice harvesters, people who simply have an interest in learning more about our iconic northern Minnesota grain are welcome to join.
