9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
The workdays available for student participation have been changed from Saturdays to Fridays.

Are you intrigued by how to build sustainably? The Ely Folk School is collaborating with Andy and Paula Hill who are building an affordable, energy-efficient, environmentally-responsible home within the city limits of Ely. They are offering the opportunity for people to come learn about sustainable building practices by getting involved in the process.
Andy and interested participants will be working on the house every Friday from June through September from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
You can choose individual Fridays for the phases of the construction that interest you. June and July will offer "Learning How to Build the Perfect Wall" first developed by Joe Lstiburek, PHD. Engineer. This technique will also be used in the floor assembly.
August and September will give opportunities to learn how to install solar hot water with photovoltaic panels including the appliance information, mechanical installation and water recovery system.
In September, we will move outside and build raised garden beds.Watch for details in these class postings with the weekly descriptions of classes with any necessary adjustments throughout the project.
Bring work gloves, wear sturdy shoes, safety glasses, rain gear if needed, hat, sunscreen, and insect repellant.
Each week Andy will give a short update on the project first and answer any questions that come up.
