Rosemaling in the Telemark Style

Rosemaling means “rose or flower painting” in Norwegian, a folk art that began around 1750.
This class will focus on the Telemark style, known for its graceful scrolls and fantasy flowers. You will start by learning the basic strokes of rosemaling, progress through color mixing and working with oil paints, then painting your own design to bring home or give as a gift.
About the Instructor: Kim Garrett has been rosemaling since 2007 and has studied extensively with master rosemalers in Norway and the United States. She has also studied Dalmaining, a folkart painting style, in Sweden. She has won several blue ribbons at the MN state fair for her rosemaling, received the Best in Show twice, and get rave reviews from Ely Folk School students.
